About Harrison James Lilley

My name is Harrison Lilley, and I am currently entering my fourth and anticipated final year at The Pennsylvania State University majoring in Digital Media, Arts and Technology, with a focus in Sound and Motion. I am currently studying at the Erie campus of Penn State, and I can't believe how much I've learned and achieved thus far.

While at Penn State, I have been fortunate enough to work with Penn State Behrend Athletics by photographing sports events. It's been an incredible experience to capture the fast paced action of different athletes, and I've learned so much about the technical aspects of photography during this time. I've also been able to use my writing skills as a staff member of the Behrend Beacon, which is Penn State Behrend's student newspaper. I find it so exciting to be able to tell stories through the potent combination of words and images.

During the summer, I have been working at Emma Kaufmann Camp (owned and operated by the Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh). Here, I've been fortunate to serve 800 campers and over 100 employees as the staff photographer, and I do occasional videography work in this role as well. I've also had the opportunity to delve deeper into my love for photography through freelance projects.

Speaking of photography, my experience began before my time at Penn State. I provided my photography services to Mt. Lebanon School District before coming here. I had the privilege of closely working with the athletic department, the Mt. Lebanon High School Yearbook team, and the Devil's Advocate (Mt. Lebanon High School's student newspaper). Additionally, I did photos upon request of staff and/ or students at the high school. It was so rewarding to have the chance to work so closely with the school district and to be able to showcase my skills.

Beyond photography, I have a strong interest in aviation, meteorology and severe weather, videography, and psychology. These areas have always fascinated me, and I am always eager to expand my knowledge on them. I think it's important to have broad interests, and it keeps me excited for all the learning opportunities that each day might bring.

All in all, my time at Penn State has helped me to hone my skills, gain experience in my field, and to expand my interests. I am so excited for what's to come after graduation, and can't wait to see where my passions take me.
